What does the Bible say about sonship?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible describes sonship as a relationship with God where believers are recognized as His children and heirs.

Sonship, according to the Scriptures, signifies that through faith in Christ Jesus, believers are adopted into the family of God. This intimate relationship allows them to cry out 'Abba, Father' (Galatians 4:6) and experience the privileges bestowed upon children of God. In Galatians 4:1-7, Paul illustrates that even though we were once in bondage, we have now been redeemed and made sons of God, receiving the full dignity and inheritance associated with that status. Heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ signify that our identity and inheritance rest in Christ alone.
