What does the Bible say about spiritual life in the church?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible emphasizes that spiritual life comes from Christ, and without Him, the church can appear alive but is actually dead (Revelation 3:1-2).

In Revelation 3:1-6, the church in Sardis is described as having a reputation of being alive but is spiritually dead. This portrays the danger of possessing an outward appearance of vitality and orthodoxy while lacking the vital signs of life that only come from Christ. A church can be correct in doctrine, but if the Spirit of God is absent, it is as lifeless as a cemetery. True spiritual life is derived from Christ; He must be the source of our vitality, for without Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5). This is particularly relevant in today's context, where many churches appear to thrive but are devoid of genuine faith and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.
