What does the Bible say about spiritual possession?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible depicts spiritual possession as a serious condition where a person's actions can be overtaken by evil spirits, as shown in Mark 9.

In Mark 9, we see a father who brings his son, who is possessed by a spirit that causes him to act out violently and uncontrollably. This account illustrates the physical and mental turmoil that occurs under such possession. The Scripture reveals that the devil is real and has authority over the unconverted. All unconverted people, who do not know God or His gospel, are under the devil's dominion. This shows the severity of sin and its capacity to disrupt human lives, leading to behaviors that are uncharacteristic of God’s created order. Christ's ministry included casting out demons, signifying His authority over evil spirits and His compassion for those afflicted.
