What does the Bible say about suffering and God's justice?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that suffering is often a trial of faith, and even the righteous may undergo severe testing without any wrongdoing on their part, as exemplified in the life of Job.

The life of Job illustrates profoundly the truth that suffering can be a part of God's sovereign plan. Job was a man described as 'upright' and 'righteous,' yet he faced tremendous trials. His suffering was not a punishment for sin, but rather a test of his faith and reliance on God. Throughout his ordeal, Job expressed profound truths about God, stating, 'Blessed be the name of the Lord' and ultimately affirming that even if God slays him, he would still trust in Him. This shows that our understanding of God's justice should include the fact that trials can serve a greater purpose in His divine plan, even when we do not comprehend them.
