What does the Bible say about suffering and prosperity?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible explains that the prosperity of the wicked and the suffering of the righteous is often a perplexing reality, as seen in Psalm 73 and Revelation 3:19.

The Scriptures reveal a deep and often troubling dynamic in the lives of believers and non-believers alike, particularly concerning the disparity between the prosperity of the wicked and the afflictions faced by the righteous. In Psalm 73, from which we draw a rich insight, the psalmist expresses envy towards the apparent ease of the wicked, only to realize upon coming into the sanctuary of God that their end is destruction. The Word reminds us in Revelation 3:19 that as many as the Lord loves, He rebukes and chastens. This speaks to the idea that suffering in the life of a believer can serve a higher purpose of divine love and discipline, distinguishing it from the blissful ignorance of the wicked who may not face immediate judgment.
