What does the Bible say about thanking God for trials?

In 2 Thessalonians 1:3-4, Paul reminds us that we are bound to thank God for the faith and love manifested in the lives of the believers. Trials and tribulations serve to exercise our faith and grow our patience, as stated in Romans 5, where we are taught that tribulation produces perseverance, character, and hope.
