What does the Bible say about the affliction of Christ?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible reveals that God has not abhorred the affliction of Christ, affirming His suffering as vital for our salvation.

Psalm 22:24 states that God hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, referring directly to Christ, whose suffering was essential for the redemption of His people. Christ's affliction was necessary because, as per Romans 6:23, the wages of sin is death, and only through the sacrificial suffering of Christ can our sins be atoned. His suffering fulfilled the righteous demands of God’s justice, thus allowing for the possibility of our justification, making it clear that God is satisfied with Christ’s offering.
