The Bible reveals that Christ, as the Lamb of God, provides a complete Atonement for sin, fulfilling the requirements of justice through His sacrifice.
The Atonement is a central tenet of the Christian faith, emphasizing that Christ, as the Lamb of God, has effectively taken away the sin of the world (John 1:29). The necessity of an Atonement is rooted in God’s justice and holiness, which cannot overlook sin without satisfaction. This means that before God could dispense mercy, the demands of His law had to be fulfilled. The Levitical sacrifices were types that pointed to Christ, but they could not bear the weight of sin (Hebrews 10:1). Jesus' sacrifice, being the perfect and final Atonement, fulfilled all the requirements of divine justice, making it possible for sinners to be forgiven entirely through His obedience and suffering (Galatians 4:4-5).
