What does the Bible say about the church as the Lord's Army?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible depicts the church as God's army, assembled under Christ's leadership, equipped to engage in spiritual warfare.

The church is portrayed as the Lord's army, with believers depicted as warriors ready to engage in spiritual battles. In Numbers 1, God commanded that those able to go forth to war be counted, and this serves as a metaphor for the Christian community. Just as the Israelites were organized into tribes with a clear purpose, the church today is called to be active in proclaiming the Gospel and contending for the faith. Ephesians 6 emphasizes the need to don the 'armor of God' as we battle against spiritual forces. Our Commander, the Lord Jesus Christ, has already secured victory, and we march forward in His triumph.
