What does the Bible say about the Comforter?

Answered in 12 sources

The Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit, referred to as the Comforter, abides with believers forever and is essential for their comfort and guidance.

In John 14:18, Jesus promises His disciples, 'I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.' This assurance highlights the role of the Holy Spirit, who is given by the Father to dwell within believers. The Comforter, also called the Spirit of truth, is vital because He guides, instructs, and comforts the hearts of believers, enabling them to endure life's challenges. Jesus emphasizes that the world cannot receive Him, but believers know Him because He dwells with them and will be in them.
