What does the Bible say about the cords of sin?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible describes the cords of sin as iniquities that enslave individuals, holding them captive to their flesh and sinful desires.

The cords of sin are detailed in Proverbs 5:21-22, where it states that man's ways are before the eyes of the Lord, and his iniquities ensnare him. In our flesh, which Paul describes in Romans 7, we find no good thing, and this flesh can lead us into captivity. Each person grapples with their own struggles, but ultimately, the problem lies not in others but within ourselves. Without intervention, we would remain entangled in these cords, unable to escape our sinful inclinations. Paul reflects this struggle in Romans, highlighting our need for a deliverer, which is found in Jesus Christ alone.
