What does the Bible say about the crucifixion of the flesh?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its affections and lusts (Galatians 5:24).

The Apostle Paul, in Galatians 5:24, states that those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh along with its passions and desires. This refers to a spiritual action where believers, through their union with Christ, have symbolically participated in His crucifixion. They are no longer under condemnation for their sinful nature since it was judged at the cross. The essence of this crucifixion involves spiritually abandoning reliance on the flesh, which is fundamentally corrupt, to live in the freedom given by Christ. This must not be confused with a physical act, but rather an inner transformation that occurs through faith and the work of the Holy Spirit.
