What does the Bible say about the defeat of death?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that Christ put death to death and that the final triumph over death will occur at the resurrection.

In the account of Joshua's last battle, we see a foreshadowing of Christ's ultimate victory over death. While God stated in Scripture that He would make Christ's enemies a footstool for His feet, it is essential to understand that Christ has already dealt a mortal blow to all God's enemies, including death. Even though death has been defeated in principle through Christ's sacrifice, believers must still experience physical death until the time of the resurrection, when death will be completely eradicated. Passages like 1 Timothy 1:10 express how Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel, affirming the certainty of this victory which awaits all believers.
