What does the Bible say about the demoniac in Gadara?

Answered in 1 source

The demoniac in Gadara was possessed by many demons, demonstrating Christ's power to deliver and redeem the lost.

The account of the demoniac in Gadara, found in Luke 8:26-39, illustrates the power of Christ over the forces of darkness. This man was possessed by a multitude of demons, known as 'Legion,' which caused him to live among the tombs, naked and out of control. When Jesus arrived, the demons recognized Him as the Son of God and begged not to be tormented. In a spectacular display of authority, Jesus commanded the unclean spirits to leave the man and allowed them to enter a herd of swine, which subsequently ran into the sea. This act not only highlights Jesus' sovereign power but also highlights His mercy, as He restored the man to his right mind, clothing him and allowing him to be a witness to His grace.
