What does the Bible say about the difference between law and grace?

Answered in 3 sources

The Bible teaches that the law reveals sin and brings bondage, while grace through faith in Jesus Christ sets us free and empowers us to live righteously.

Scripture illustrates that the law was given to reveal sin and demonstrate our inability to attain righteousness through our deeds (Romans 3:20). The law represents a covenant that, if relied upon, leads to bondage and death (Galatians 4:24). In contrast, grace through faith in Jesus Christ liberates the believer, allowing them to produce fruit acceptable to God through the Spirit (Romans 8:2). This covenant of grace is the better promise through which we have been adopted as children of God, enabling us to serve in newness of spirit rather than the oldness of the letter of the law (Romans 7:6).
