What does the Bible say about the effectual call of the gospel?

Answered in 3 sources

The Bible teaches that the effectual call of the gospel is an irresistible summons by God to salvation, as exemplified in Luke 19 with Zacchaeus.

The effectual call of the gospel is a sovereign act of God whereby He calls His elect to salvation in a manner that cannot be resisted. In Luke 19, we see this exemplified in the conversion of Zacchaeus, a notorious sinner. Jesus intentionally passed through Jericho, seeking out Zacchaeus to demonstrate that no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace. This call is rooted in God's eternal purpose and is accompanied by the transformative power of the Holy Spirit, who regenerates the heart and enables a sinner to respond in faith and repentance.
