What does the Bible say about the elect priests and their role?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that believers are elect priests appointed by God to serve Him and offer spiritual sacrifices (1 Peter 2:9).

In 1 Peter 2:9, it explicitly states that believers are a 'chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people.' This signifies that all believers are set apart by God as His representative priests. They are not called according to their merit but by God's sovereign grace. The priesthood of the believers reflects their privileged position to serve God through Christ, whom they follow. This strikes at the heart of the Reformed understanding that Christ alone mediates between God and man, rendering any earthly priest unnecessary.
