What does the Bible say about the Exodus and its significance?

Answered in 2 sources

The Exodus story symbolizes God's deliverance of His people from bondage and points to the ultimate salvation through Jesus Christ.

The Exodus is recorded not merely as historical fact but as a narrative rich in theological significance for all of God's people. Hebrews 11:29 shows us that by faith, the Israelites passed through the Red Sea, which symbolizes God's power to deliver. Romans 15:4 explains that these events were written for our learning, to provide us with patience and hope. The journey of the Israelites represents our own journey of faith—from bondage to Egypt, a picture of sin, to the promised land, representing salvation and eternal fellowship with God. Every trial they faced corresponds to the trials believers endure as we await our final redemption and glorification.
