What does the Bible say about the fall of humanity?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that humanity has fallen from its original state of righteousness due to sin, resulting in a loss of communion with God.

According to Scripture, particularly in Genesis and in the writings of Paul, humanity fell from its original state of created righteousness at the moment Adam and Eve disobeyed God. God warned Adam that in the day he ate of the forbidden fruit, he would surely die (Genesis 2:17). This death was not just physical but spiritual, leading to a severance in the communion between mankind and God. The resulting condition of humanity is a desperate one where 'none is righteous, no, not one' (Romans 3:10). This fall has profound implications, including the loss of our moral integrity and the gain of spiritual bondage, exemplified in the story of the Gadarene man who was possessed by demons.
