What does the Bible say about the fear of death?

Answered in 8 sources

The Bible teaches that the fear of death is a universal bondage that afflicts humanity because of sin, but Christ came to deliver us from this fear.

The Bible reveals that the fear of death is a significant issue that affects all humanity. As stated in Hebrews 2:15, people are held in bondage throughout their lives due to this fear. The reason for this fear lies in the awareness of our mortality and the inevitable meeting with our Creator. Our conscience recognizes the reality of sin and guilt before a holy God, causing us to dread death and the judgment that follows. However, through His death, Christ came to destroy the power of death and to deliver us from this bondage, offering salvation and eternal life to all who believe in Him.
