What does the Bible say about the final state of believers and unbelievers?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that upon death, believers go to be with Christ, while unbelievers remain in an eternal state separated from God.

In Ecclesiastes 11:3, we see that a tree that falls remains where it falls, symbolizing our eternal state after death. When a person dies, they either die as a believer and enter into the presence of Christ, or as an unbeliever, destined for eternal separation. This reality emphasizes the importance of being ready at all times, as illustrated in Scripture, akin to the rich man and Lazarus. In Luke 16, the rich man found himself in torment after death, realizing it was too late for repentance. Therefore, each individual's destination is fixed at death, highlighting the urgency of a genuine faith in Christ in this life.
