What does the Bible say about the first and second covenant?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that Christ has taken away the first covenant to establish the second, which is based on grace and not law.

In Hebrews 10:9, the Holy Spirit emphasizes that Christ came to do God's will, which entailed removing the first covenant that required law and sacrifices to establish a new covenant of grace. This new covenant is based on the perfect work of Christ, who is the ultimate and only sin-atoning priest. He fulfilled all the requirements of the law and provided everlasting atonement for His people. By His sacrifice, believers are sanctified and can confidently approach God, free from the bondage of the old law.
