What does the Bible say about the four types of hearers?

Answered in 3 sources

The Bible describes four types of hearers in Luke 8:4-15: the wayside, rocky ground, thorn-choked, and good ground hearers.

In Luke 8:4-15, Jesus uses a parable to illustrate four types of hearers in relation to the Gospel. The wayside hearers, represented by the hard path, do not understand the Word, as it is quickly taken away. Rocky ground hearers initially receive the message with joy but lack deep roots, leading to their fall away during trials. Thorn-choked hearers accept the Word but are overwhelmed by worldly cares, riches, and pleasures, which prevent them from bearing fruit. In contrast, good ground hearers, who possess honest and good hearts, truly understand and keep the Word, resulting in fruitful lives.
