What does the Bible say about the frailty of man?

Answered in 6 sources

The Bible teaches that man is frail and vanity, as expressed in Psalm 39:4-5, where it states that every man at his best state is altogether vanity.

In Psalm 39:4-5, David reflects on the brevity and frailty of human life, acknowledging that even at our best, we are still essentially vanity. This passage highlights our limited existence and dependence on God. The Scriptures consistently remind us that without God's grace, our achievements and lives are ultimately fleeting and insignificant in the grand scheme of His sovereignty. From the perspective of sovereign grace theology, it is only through recognizing our frailty and sinfulness that we understand our need for God's salvation. Our natural state is one of utter dependence on the grace of God, who provides strength amidst our weaknesses.
