What does the Bible say about the importance of good works?

Answered in 4 sources

The Bible teaches that while good works do not save us, they are the evidence of true faith and the result of God's grace in our lives.

In Ephesians 2:8-10, Scripture makes it clear that we are saved by grace through faith, not by works. Yet, this same passage continues to emphasize that we are created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Good works serve as the outward evidence of our faith and relationship with God, reflecting His transforming grace in our lives. As believers, our diligence in performing good works is a response to the love and salvation we have received, indicative of our commitment to glorifying God and serving others in His name.
