What does the Bible say about the law and its inability to save?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that the law cannot save because it reveals sin, but cannot provide righteousness or justification (Romans 3:20).

Scripture emphasizes that the law of God is perfect, holy, and just, but due to our sinful nature, it cannot save us (Romans 7:14). The law only provides the knowledge of sin but does not empower us to achieve righteousness. Paul clarifies that if there had been a law that could grant life, righteousness would have come through it. However, the law exposes our inability to keep it, leaving us guilty before God (Romans 3:19-20). Thus, the law functions as a schoolmaster to lead us to Christ, who fulfilled the law on our behalf (Galatians 3:24).
