What does the Bible say about the ministry of the Holy Spirit?

Answered in 8 sources

The Bible reveals that the Holy Spirit's ministry is to guide us to Christ, give us spiritual sight and hearing, and empower the preaching of the gospel for our salvation.

The ministry of the Holy Spirit, as described in the Bible, is fundamentally about revealing Christ to sinners and bringing them into a saving knowledge of Him. The Holy Spirit gives us spiritual eyes to see the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ, as mentioned in Matthew 12, where Christ illustrates our spiritual blindness and inability to speak of God's glory by nature. This transformation, referred to as the new birth, is a miraculous work of the Holy Spirit, enabling us to awaken from spiritual death and respond to the gospel. Furthermore, the Holy Spirit empowers preachers to declare the truth of the Word, confirming the gospel message through miracles that serve to validate the message of salvation. Thus, His ministry is central to the work of salvation and the establishment of God's kingdom.
