What does the Bible say about the nation of Israel and God's elect?

Answered in 1 source

The nation of Israel serves as a picture of God's elect, but they are not the elect themselves; spiritual Israel reflects God's chosen people from every nation.

The nation of Israel stands as a representation of God's chosen people, but historically, Israel itself is not synonymous with the elect. The elect are those whom God has chosen in eternity for salvation and grace, which extends beyond Israel to all who believe in Christ from every nation, tribe, and tongue. In the Old Testament, while God chose Israel to picture spiritual blessings, true spiritual Israel consists of the remnant that trusts in Christ, echoing the sentiments seen in Isaiah's writings where he highlights God's selection of a remnant among Israel. Hence, while physical Israel received outward privileges, spiritual Israel encapsulates the true people of God, united by faith. (1 Samuel 4:1-2; Isaiah 10:20-22; Romans 11:5)
