What does the Bible say about the natural man and spiritual blessings?

According to 1 Corinthians 2:14, the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit because he sees them as foolishness. This highlights a fundamental truth in Reformed theology: spiritual blessings and the understanding of God’s salvation must be revealed to us by the Holy Spirit. The natural inclination is to resist the idea that salvation is a gift given by God, as it contradicts the human instinct to achieve merit through personal effort. Only when the Spirit of God regenerates the heart does the individual come to see the value and necessity of Christ's work for their salvation.
