What does the Bible say about the nature of Christian suffering?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that Christians will face tribulations, but they are not to be in despair because of the hope and glory that awaits them.

In 2 Corinthians 4, the Apostle Paul speaks to the reality of suffering in the Christian life. He acknowledges the sharp pains of being 'troubled on every side,' 'perplexed,' and 'persecuted,' yet asserts that Christians are not distressed or destroyed. This paradox stems from the assurance that our light afflictions, which are but for a moment, work for us an eternal weight of glory (2 Corinthians 4:17). Hence, the perspective of glorifying God amidst suffering emphasizes reliance on His promises and eternal kingdom rather than immediate trials.
