What does the Bible say about the nature of humanity?

Answered in 8 sources

The Bible teaches that humanity is historically fallen and depraved, unable to seek God without divine intervention (Romans 3:10-12).

The Scriptures make it clear that all humanity is in a state of depravity due to the sin of Adam. As articulated in Romans 3:10-12, 'there is none righteous, no, not one; there is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God'. This illustrates the total inability of humanity to reach God apart from His sovereign grace. The fall in Genesis not only impacted Adam but resulted in the condemnation of all humanity, establishing the necessity for God's grace and mercy for salvation. Until God reveals our wretched state, we remain unaware of our desperate need for Him. Dependence on God's mercy is essential for recognizing our spiritual condition.
