The Bible reveals that Jesus Christ is our eternal priest, established in the order of Melchizedek, replacing the Levitical priesthood.
In Hebrews 7, it is clarified that the Levitical priesthood, under which the people received the law, was insufficient for achieving perfection. Instead, a new priest, Jesus Christ, arises in the order of Melchizedek, indicating a significant change in the priesthood and, by necessity, the law itself. This reflects the transition from the old covenant, symbolized by the law that made nothing perfect, to the new covenant that brings better hope and allows believers to draw near to God. Jesus is described as having an unchangeable priesthood and is able to save eternally because He lives to intercede for us.
