What does the Bible say about the Old Covenant and its fulfillment?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that the Old Covenant was fulfilled by Christ, who kept its requirements and completed its purpose.

The Bible reveals that the Old Covenant was not destroyed but fulfilled through Jesus Christ. In Matthew 5:17, Jesus states, 'Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.' This means that Jesus met all the requirements of the law, both outwardly and inwardly, as he loved God completely and demonstrated perfect obedience. His fulfillment of the Old Covenant included not only living a sinless life but also offering himself as the ultimate sacrifice for sin, which brings an end to the need for the Old Covenant's sacrificial system (Hebrews 10:1-10).
