What does the Bible say about the old man in us?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible describes the old man as our sinful nature that opposes God and needs to die spiritually.

In Scripture, the old man represents our fallen nature and is said to be in direct opposition to the new man created in Christ. Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; old things have passed away. The old man, or the natural man, is characterized by enmity against God and retains no spiritual value apart from Christ. This nature must be recognized as dead, as it has been crucified with Christ, and our hope should rest solely in Christ's righteousness.
