What does the Bible say about the order of Melchizedek?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible portrays Melchizedek as a type of Christ, representing His eternal priesthood and the grace of God.

In the Bible, particularly in Hebrews, Melchizedek is described as a unique priest and king, 'called of God, a high priest after the order of Melchizedek' (Hebrews 5:10). His significance lies in that he predates the Levitical priesthood, illustrating the eternal nature of Christ's priesthood. Unlike the priests from the order of Aaron, who had to continually offer sacrifices, Melchizedek's priesthood symbolizes the completeness and finality of Christ's atoning work. Through Melchizedek, we see a picture of grace and an everlasting covenant that is fulfilled in Jesus, who stands as our perfect high priest forever.
