What does the Bible say about the power of sin?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible describes sin as having a powerful grip on individuals, often depicted through the control of demonic forces, as seen in Acts 16:16-18.

In Acts 16, we see an illustration of the power of sin through the story of a young woman possessed by a spirit of divination. This spirit had such control over her that her masters exploited her for financial gain. The narrative reveals how sin, often intertwined with deceptive powers, can dominate an individual, leading them into bondage and corruption. The authority of Christ, however, dismantles this power, as Paul commands the spirit to leave her, demonstrating that, while sin is powerful, the authority in the name of Jesus surpasses it significantly.
