What does the Bible say about the problem of evil?

Answered in 3 sources

The Bible teaches that while God is not the author of sin, He sovereignly uses evil for His glory and the ultimate good of His people.

Scripture asserts that God is sovereign over all creation, including evil. In Isaiah 45:7, God declares, 'I form the light and create darkness; I make peace and create evil; I the Lord do all these things.' This indicates that evil exists under God's absolute control and serves His divine purposes. Psalm 76:10 states, 'Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee; the remainder of wrath wilt thou restrain,' illustrating that even human actions against God are utilized by Him to glorify His name. Thus, while evil and sin are real, they ultimately fulfill God's plan.
