What does the Bible say about the purpose of God's word?

Answered in 1 source

God's word is given to reveal His will and purpose, specifically through Jesus Christ.

The Bible teaches that God's word is intended to instruct and teach us about who He is and what His purposes are for His people. In Isaiah 55:10-11, it is stated that just as the rain and snow fulfill their purpose by watering the earth, so does God's word go forth to accomplish His will. This ultimate purpose centers on revealing Jesus Christ as the Word of God, through whom God's gracious plan is made known. Believers are called to hear and obey God's commands, primarily to trust in Christ and love one another, as He is the embodiment of His word and the means of our salvation.
