What does the Bible say about the purpose of Scriptures?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible states that the purpose of Scriptures is to produce faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God.

According to John 20:30-31, the primary reason why the Scriptures were written is to foster belief in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). Thus, the Scriptures serve to convey truth and confidence, enabling us to understand the life and work of Christ so that we might believe in His name and gain eternal life through Him. They provide not just historical accounts but reveal the truth of who Jesus is and what He has accomplished for sinners.
