What does the Bible say about the relationship between the church and the pastor?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that the church should esteem its pastors highly for their work in preaching the gospel.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13, Paul urges the church to recognize and respect those who labor among them and lead them in the Lord. This respect is based on the understanding that pastors are servants of Christ who preach the gospel and care for the souls of the congregation. They are not to be seen as superior, but rather as humble servants tasked with proclaiming the good news and guiding the church in spiritual matters. The church, in turn, is called to be at peace and to build one another up in love, reflecting the unity and bond of the Spirit.
