What does the Bible say about the relationship between the Old and New Covenants?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that Christ establishes a new covenant which is better than the old law, fulfilling its purpose.

In Hebrews 10:9, it states that Christ took away the first covenant to establish the second, emphasizing the superiority of the New Covenant over the Old. While the Old Covenant contained good laws and ordinances, it ultimately could not atone for sin or provide a true relationship with God. The New Covenant, embodied in Jesus Christ, brings redemption, the forgiveness of sins, and a new heart that desires to obey God. This transformation allows believers to worship in spirit and truth rather than through carnal ordinances.
