What does the Bible say about the rock that provided water for Israel?

Answered in 1 source

The rock that provided water for Israel represents Christ, as stated in 1 Corinthians 10:4.

In 1 Corinthians 10:4, Paul explains that the rock which accompanied the Israelites in the wilderness was Christ Himself. This Old Testament event is a typological representation of Christ providing living water for His people. Just as the rock was struck to provide sustenance for physical thirst, Christ was smitten for our sins to provide the spiritual nourishment that we need. He fulfills the symbolic role of the rock by meeting our deepest spiritual needs, which cannot be satisfied by anything else.
