What does the Bible say about the role of Barnabas in Antioch?

Answered in 1 source

Barnabas played a crucial role in encouraging and teaching new believers in Antioch.

In Acts 11, Barnabas is sent to Antioch by the church in Jerusalem to investigate the new Gentile converts. Upon arriving, he sees the grace of God evident among the believers and encourages them to remain steadfast in their faith. Not only does Barnabas affirm the work of God among the Gentiles, but he also takes the initiative to seek out Saul (later known as Paul) in Tarsus to help teach the burgeoning church in Antioch. Together, they minister for a year, leading to significant growth in the number of disciples, who are first called Christians in that city.
