What does the Bible say about the role of Jesus as our High Priest?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that Jesus is our High Priest, superior to the old covenant priesthood, offering a better sacrifice for our sins.

Jesus Christ fulfills the role of our High Priest as described in Hebrews 8, where He is depicted as superior to the Levitical priests of the old covenant. Unlike those priests who had to offer sacrifices for their own sins as well as for the people, Christ, who is both divine and human, offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. His priesthood is permanent, effective, and seated at the right hand of God, making Him the mediator of a better covenant established on better promises.
