What does the Bible say about the role of miracles in faith?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that miracles do not produce true faith; faith comes from the gospel.

Throughout Scripture, it is evident that miracles, while impressive, do not inherently lead to faith. In John 11, even the miraculous raising of Lazarus did not compel the religious leaders to believe in Christ; instead, they plotted against Him. This teaches us that miracles can create curiosity but are not the means of saving faith. Romans 10:17 states, 'So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God,' emphasizing that it is the gospel and the Holy Spirit's work that truly brings about faith in the hearts of the elect.
