What does the Bible say about the role of miracles in the Gospel?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that miracles serve as signs to authenticate the Gospel and point back to God's truth and purpose.

In Acts 8, we see that miracles are not the focus or end in themselves, but rather tools used by God, such as through Philip, to validate the message of the Gospel. The miracles performed were seen as messianic signs, crucial for demonstrating the authority and power of the message being proclaimed. Philip, for instance, used his gift of miracles to reveal God's truth and to call people to belief. God intends miracles to drive individuals to ask, 'What is God saying through this?' rather than to create an obsession with the wonders themselves.
