What does the Bible say about the sacrificial system and Christ's sacrifice?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that the Old Testament sacrificial system was incomplete, pointing to Christ's one perfect sacrifice that atoned for all sins.

In Hebrews 10, we see that the Old Testament priests repeatedly offered sacrifices that could never truly take away sins. These sacrifices were commanded by God but were intended as a shadow to point to the ultimate sacrifice of Christ. Unlike the common priests who stood continually in service, Christ offered one sacrifice for sins forever and then sat down at the right hand of God, signifying the completion of His work (Hebrews 10:12). His sacrifice is effectual, accomplishing what the blood of bulls and goats could not—complete and perfect redemption for His elect throughout history.
