What does the Bible say about the security of the saints?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible assures that true saints are eternally secure in their salvation due to God's purposes and actions.

The apostle Paul, in Romans chapter 8, provides several proofs of the security of the saints. Primarily, he emphasizes that the Holy Spirit indwells believers, leading them away from condemnation and fear. Paul writes that once we receive the Spirit of adoption, we continuously cry out to God as our Father, signifying our secure position in His family. Furthermore, this security is grounded in the sovereign purpose of God, who foreknew and predestined His people. Therefore, the assurance of salvation is not dependent on human actions but rather on God's faithfulness and sovereignty.

In addition, Paul highlights the death and intercession of Christ as further guarantees of our security. If Christ died specifically for the elect and now intercedes for them, those who are truly saved can rest assured that they will not face condemnation. Moreover, the love of God, which is unbreakable and unconditional, ensures that nothing can separate believers from Him, cementing the truth that those truly in Christ are eternally secure in their salvation.
