What does the Bible say about the separation of wheat and chaff?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that God separates His people (wheat) from the world (chaff) through His Word.

In Matthew 3:12, we see John the Baptist declaring that the Lord will use a fan in His hand to separate the wheat from the chaff. This imagery illustrates that God's elect, referred to as wheat, are distinct from those who are not His people, called chaff. This separation is accomplished by the Word of God, which reveals the truths of salvation through Christ, thus discerning between those who belong to Him and those who do not.
