What does the Bible say about the source of salvation?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that the sovereign will of God is the source and cause of salvation, not the will of man.

According to Scripture, especially in Romans 9:16, the source of salvation is the sovereign will and pleasure of God alone. While human actions such as repentance and faith are necessary, they do not cause salvation. Instead, they are responses to God’s grace, which is the true initiator of salvation. Salvation is of the Lord entirely, affirming that man’s will has no part in achieving it. This emphasizes the grace of God, as He causes the willing heart towards repentance and faith.

Additionally, the experience of the Apostle Paul serves as a powerful example. In Acts 9, Paul’s will was in opposition to God until grace intervened. His transformation showcases that apart from God's sovereign intervention, no one has the will to turn to Christ. Thus, it is God’s grace that enables the sinner to willfully come to Him, reflecting the biblical teaching that salvation is rooted in divine sovereignty, not human effort.
